One of the best places that I’ve learned a lot about Indie Publishing from is Dean Wesley Smith.
When I first came back to writing, after taking some time off, I stumbled across this site and spent several days reading so much of what he has shared. It got me all excited about writing again, and realizing I can take control of my writing, instead of being dictated to by an agent or legacy publisher. Write the book, get it out there for the readers, and then, instead of spending months and money to promote and publicize until your friends run in fear from you…just start righting the next book. What could be more simpler? After all, I am a writer, and writing is what I like to do.
That’s not to say that this career direction is for everyone. I know a lot of writers desire to go in the direction of the agent/publisher route. And that’s not bad or wrong..it’s what works for them. I’m just glad finally, writers have a choice. In the past, Indie publishing was taboo, and looked down upon. Each writer gets to make their own decisions, and that’s the greatest thing to come out of this new direction in publishing.

This is my first blog post. I’m finally here….and I hope you’re ready!
I received the rights back to a couple of stories I wrote several years ago, polished them a bit, gave them new covers, and they are now live! I’m very excited about the direction that publishing is headed. Legacy publishing seemed all too discouraging for this writer that has never been able to locate ‘patience’ in the dictionary. So, for a while, I plan on discussing the varying aspects of indie publishing and sharing what I know and am learning. Thanks for stopping by!
